3 Months Old

Kayla and Tyler are officially almost 3 months old now. Of course, their corrected age is only 1 month...so they aren't quite as developed as a 3 month old would be. They are working on it though!

They have had an exciting few weeks. They visited the mall (on a quiet Monday afternoon, when there was no one there). They attended their first family party at Aunt Lynn's house, for cousin Andrew's 15th birthday:

Kayla & TJ also went to their first restaurant for lunch with Mommy, Grandma, Auntie Jess & Penny, Nina & Frank. Most importantly, they visited Dr.Douvris to be checked out and to get their first RSV shot.

At the doctor, Tyler weighed in at 7 lbs 14 oz, and Kayla weighed in at 10 lbs 5 oz. The doctor was VERY pleased with their weight gain! Mommy knew they should be gaining lots of weight, as they are eating like little piggies. Here are some new developments:

Both babies have shown smiles at this point. TJ's first smile was at the ceiling fan at Aunt Lynn's house, while he was in Grandma's arms. Kayla's first smile was at Grandma at our house. Just this morning she greeted Mommy from her crib with a big "good morning" smile! Neither of them are smiling regularly yet, but we are sure it is coming.

Kayla is still taking her 5 oz every 4 hours, but has been taking 1 or 2 6 oz bottles a day (usually just before bed). Mommy & Daddy are planning to move her crib and give the babies their own rooms, as we think she would sleep all night if her brother didn't wake her up all the time! She gets up with him about every 5 hours, but she only takes 2-3 oz before going back to sleep. We don't want her to get used to getting a snack in the middle of the night, so we need to stop this soon! She has also been doing a great job of holding her head up. She still gets a little floppy, but she can do it for a while now. Here are some pictures of her in her Bumbo seat, and cousin Penny's exersaucer:

Kayla is also losing a lot of her baby hair at this point, and showing signs of her new hairline. She even has some peach fuzz growing in! Here she is getting a mohawk from Mommy after her bath, showing a little smile, and showing off her favorite sleeping position:

Tyler is getting big also! He is still taking his 4 oz bottles every 4 hours, and generally sleeps for a 4-6 hour stretch at night. He likes to wake up for the day at about 6 or 7 am, but then goes back to sleep as soon as he reaches the living room. We think he just likes a change of scenery! TJ is also very good at holding his head up, but is still a bit small to do it as well as his sister does. He is still as nosey as ever, always looking around with those big eyes of his! He also still likes to take little naps on his Boppy pillow during the day. He is also losing a lot of his baby hair, and starting to show signs of his new hairline.

He also enjoys visiting with his Grandmas. Don't be fooled by the crying picture, TJ cries a lot. He is just a little fuss-pot sometimes...nothing like his sister! He loves to be cuddled though, and that is usually the quickest way to get him to settle down.

As for Mommy & Daddy...we are very tired, and looking forward to the end of the sleepless nights. We are trying to do our best to keep up with the housework, as well as get lots of sleep and spend time with the babies. Not to mention blogging! haha, hopefully soon things will be better!

So that's all for now! We have to get going as Thanksgiving is almost here! Kayla & TJ are very excited to have their first sleepover at Grandma's house, and to finally meet their Aunt Kris!

Bye for now!

Can't believe how fast they're growing. Wish I could be there and part of it all, but someday I'll meet them, in the meantime, hugs and kisses. Love-Aunt Paul
