For those of you that were aware of (and may have even experienced) Kayla's apnea monitor nightmares, she is now all fixed! For a while her monitor was beeping so often that we found ourselves sleeping through it or ignoring it. There were even a few nights when it alarmed every 5-10 seconds, and we had to stay awake all night waking her up and resetting the monitor. We spoke with the doctors and after a good look at all of her monitor reports, they decided to lower the minimum heart beats per minute on her machine. It seems that the machine was set to alarm if she dropped below 80 beats per min, and she was often dropping to 78 or 79. They looked over all of her reports and said they see no need for a cardiac follow-up. At 3 months old they were going to lower it anyway, so she may have just developed a bit faster. so now, we have been enjoying an alarm-free week! Yaaaaay!
Some other things that we can now expect from Kayla & TJ are lots of eye contact, lots of arm & leg movement, and lots of awake time. They both will lock in on our eyes and just stare at us. Kayla seems to be just on the verge of cracking a smile, but nothing definitive yet! When they are on their playmat, they will fidget like crazy, and even reach for the toys! No grabbing yet, but they seem to be reaching their hands out to touch things more often now.
Here are some of their new, updated pictures! They are getting so big! Smit and I are guessing at this point that TJ weighs between 7-8 lbs, and Kayla might be as much as 10 lbs! We'll see soon!
More to come next week!
