Not Going Home Pregnant

The results of the 24-hour urine test were so-so. While her protein levels are well above normal, they are not quite to the threshold necessitating emergency delivery of the twins. The IV fluids from Friday and two days of bed rest has brought her blood pressure down, which is good considering that high BP is another factor of the preeclampsia. Regardless of how “good” the results were, combining all of the issues that Kelly is currently facing: Preeclampsia, Gestational Diabetes and our Boy’s small size, the doctors aren’t comfortable with her going home. As long as things remain stable, Kelly will spend the next – rather last – 6 weeks of her pregnancy in the hospital on bed rest. The doctors and nurses continue to closely monitor her BP, glucose levels and condition of the babies. Should anything turn for the worse, they’ll be ready to deliver the babies and start immediate care. While Kelly understands that it’s the best place for her and the twins to be, she’s upset that she can’t come home. She’ll sure miss the cats while she’s gone.
