Week 1 Down, 5 Weeks to Go

31 Weeks 1 Day: I’ve been visiting every night after work. Tonight I had dinner with Lauren’s husband, Harry, in the cafeteria while Kelly and Lauren ate their dinners-in-bed. Lauren and Harry are a riot which really helps keep stress levels down and the time pass.

As far as Kelly’s condition is concerned, she’s doing very well. Since her admittance to the hospital the swelling that we all know and “love” has subsided considerably. So much so that she’s lost 11 pounds since last Friday. Her doctors now allow her to take short walks to the pantry (a little kitchen area on the floor) or to the nursery window to peek at the new babies.

They continue to closely monitor Kelly and the babies. Blood Pressure every 4 hours – even through the night, Glucose tests 4 times throughout the daytime, and an hour of fetal heart monitoring each morning and evening.

The nurses all joke about their room being like a dorm room. They both have a slice of home with them: Kelly’s incandescent lamp adds some warmth, balloons, pictures on the walls, and comfy bedding.
