Happy 2 Month Birthday, Babies! A few days late...but they don't know the difference!
News from the Happy Haywards for today is aaalllll about the 2 month check-up for the twins! I'll go one by one...
We'll do Tyler first today. He is currently 19" long, and weighs 6 lbs 4 oz! His head circumference was 35 cm. These measurements put his head size in the 25th percentile, but he doesn't make the chart yet on his length and weight. haha...my poor little boy with a big, big head! I had a feeling something like this would happen, since I went through 4 hats this morning, trying to find one that fit him! The doctor says he has some catching up to do, but he is doing a great job and growing quickly. He didn't do too well with his vaccinations, and has been VERY cranky ever since. Nothing a little Children's Tylenol hasn't been able to take care of though. He has another appt in 2 weeks for a blood test, to check on his anemia. If it's gone, he will be able to come off of his iron supplements...and then hopefully pooping will not be such a task for him! Cross your fingers!
Kayla is also growing quickly! She is 21" long, head circumference of 35 cm (same as TJ!), and weighs....(drumroll please)...8 lbs 13 oz! The doctor couldn't believe it! She is in the 50th percentile for height and weight, and 25th for her head. She actually gained more than 3 lbs in one month! It turns out that we are feeding her a bit too much, which is only a concern because she still chokes a lot. So we're gonna try her on a new formula that should make her feel fuller...and see how that goes. Other than that, everything looks great for Kayla. She has been sleeping the day away after having her immunizations today.
We also asked about the developmental curve of a preemie...just wondering when our babies will start things like cooing, smiling, or grasping. They are 8 weeks old now, but only 11 days past their original due date. His response was "you should expect them to act like 11 day old newborns." So it will be a little while before we can expect any new developments...but we'll keep you all posted!

My big babies!!!! I know I see them everyday, but I didn't realize how big they were until I saw them in this picture. Kayla looks like she aged about 6 months from the last set of pictures. And TJ is no longer looking like a preemie! Wow, they are growing up SO fast (although I'm sure you don't feel that when you are feeding them at 2am...)
