Sleep when the Babies Sleep!

As a new Mom, you never find yourself short on advice from other people. My first experience with this was during my pregnancy...if I only had a dollar every time someone told me "you have to put your feet up!" (as if I hadn't thought of that while suffering through the pain of my huge ankles) or "you need your rest; you should be going to bed earlier" (as if going to bed an hour earlier would have magically allowed me to not wake up 11 times during the night to pee). And if I could only tell you the eyebrow raises you get as you walk in public with your big belly and a Venti Starbucks...as if there was no chance I possibly ordered decaf! But alas, you remind yourself that everyone means well...and that if they didn't care they wouldn't be trying to help you.

So now...here we are, and the advice I hear the most is "Sleep when the babies sleep!" I'm here to tell you that although it doesn't always seem like it to all of you...Smit & I DO actively try to take this advice. We cannot, however, sleep all day long. We do have dishes to do (and a lot of bottles), laundry to do (we go through like, 16 bibs a day -- not to mention TJs peepee washcloths & the clothes he tinkles on), house cleaning, cooking, food shopping, etc....not to mention BLOGGING, so all of you can get your picture fix in! I know ALL of you moms out there can totally side with me, as you've all told me that was the last thing you wanted to hear when your baby was a newborn...even though it's the same advice most of you give me! haha. I guess someday I will be talking to one of you when your baby is a few weeks old, and I'll be saying "I know you don't want to hear this, but you really need to sleep when the baby sleeps..." HaHaHa. But for now...for all of you that think we don't ever take your advice...here you go!

Believe it or not, we DO sleep when the babies sleep!

I wanted to slap someone when they told me "sleep when the babies sleep". As if that thought never crossed my mind... but there are always chores to do that need to get done. Of course, I did realize that the people who told me this usually weren't moms themselves - that obviously explains ALOT!!
