Kayla is doing so great in the NICU. She is officially 4 lbs now, up an ounce from her birth weight. She is eating 34 mls per feeding (equivalent to about 1.1 oz) and taking most of them by bottle. Sometimes they need to finish her off through her tube though, because she tends to get a little sleepy toward the end (all that sucking & burping is a lot of work for a little girl!). She had her last Bilirubin test today and passed...so that should be the end of her jaundice tests. No more tanning lights for Kayla! She had her IV removed a few days ago, because she no longer needed the additional nutrients once she could handle 1 oz of breastmilk per feeding. We were able to bring her some clothes and hats from home, since now that she is past the threat of jaundice and is regulating her own temperature she can be dressed every day! Here is a picture of her yesterday, sleeping in her Daddy's arms:

TJ is also doing great! He is currently 2 lbs 7 oz, up 2 ounces from his birthweight! He is eating 16 mls per feeding now through his feeding tube(and increasing 2 ml everyday, consistently), and is on his way to his 20 ml goal. Because he is smaller than Kayla, he only needs to take 20 ml per feeding to no longer need his IV nutrients. According to the doctor, he should be up to 20 by the weekend, and then can have his Pic Line (the IV they surgically inserted last week) removed for good! It will be a great day when both our babies are off of their IV fluids, as those lines are so hard on their little veins. He still has days under his tanning lights, but that changes on a daily basis.

way to go babies!!! great to hear that TJ is up 2 oz. and that Kayla is up an oz.! Keep up the good work Mommy & Daddy - I'm sure all your love is helping the babies to grow big & strong.

Amazing progress for the twins! Now if only the nursery decorating can keep up with the same progress ;)
